I might have been a bit harsh with my baby cousin today but his positivism pissed me off. I believe in t he law of attraction (though the whole secret thing is getting a little old) but saying cancer happens to people who are too negative made me want to choke him.  how many nice, positive people have been victims of this horrible disease? you cannot tell me all of them were grumpy negative people.
It all started because he refuses tu use sunblock, he's a tennis player and should know better, have you seen jimmy connors lately he looks a hundred years old . He said I shouldn't be so negative that if he was positive he wouldn't get skin cancer.  I told him then why brush my teeth?  If I'm positive nothing will happen to them.  and then he said my uncle who died from cancer was too negative and that's why he got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  can I strangle the kid, I thank God I'm ot 19 anymore.  He never even knew him!!!!!!!!!!!!  he said my other uncles said thad the one who died complained a lot.  so the logic must be complain like hell and you'll get cancer!!
but what about bad things that happen to good people?
I just like to think that you should help yourself as much as possible, wash your teeth, use sunblock, don't kill people, if you're lucky good things will come your way, if not take the bad things as a learning experience and try as hell to move on.

You know, I have a friend who was raised by parents who believed stuff like that. They didn't let her get immunised or anything. Then she went to Costa Rica on an exchange program for her University and while she was there, she caught Polio and now she's paralysed and probably won't recover much use of her legs. The sad fact is that she was a professional ballet dancer.

Her parents said, 'it wasn't really Polio, it was your body trying to tell you that you were on the wrong path and you were being so negative that your body did this to you.'

Needless to say, after this experience she no longer believes in all that. Pity it had to come down to it like this, though. I hope your cousin doesn't have to learn the hard way :(

thanks, that's the kind of examples that exist all over the world!! I mean you have to have some positivity in your life just don't over do it!!! don't put your life in danger just because.
anyway, I've fought over this with my cousin and another one that came today 4m another city and my final take is, what are you going to do when even if you are a ray of sunshine the world kicks you in the butt?
thanks again for the reply, I don't feel so alone in my realism anymore.
