can't run out the clock

I made this sheet pan pancake for dinner last night (pic) and it was good, but I don't know that I'd call it a pancake - it is much thicker and not particularly fluffy. The texture is more "cake" than "pancake". But it was good with butter and syrup and will also provide several days of breakfast so I can't complain. It's super easy to throw together, too - no buttermilk needed. The handful of strawbs I had left had gone moldy in the fridge, but I had about 3/4 cup of frozen berries left in the freezer that I folded in and also about 1/4 cup of mini chocolate chips that I sprinkled on top, so that worked out.

Will you walk the line, my path serpentine. Remember always that love is all you need

And it's back to work day. Ew. It's always bugfuck crazy the day after a holiday and I am not looking forward to it.

What I am looking forward to is that it is now 9 days til Jess' top surgery! We're in single digits! I'm anxious, though not so much about the surgery, more about the travel. I loathe DC traffic with the power of a thousand suns. Roundabouts are my personal rival. We shall get there, though. There's a chance that Jess gets out of recovery around 3-4, which is going to put us in major traffic. If that happens, I suggested getting a hotel room for a few hours, just long enough for traffic to ease up, and then head out when we're not going to be in either DC or Baltimore traffic just to make it easier on both of us. Plus, then we could have dinner in the comfort of the hotel room. Or, alternately, if Jess is feeling up to it, we'll go have dinner and relax. Hopefully, this is all a moot point, and they get out of surgery early, and we just go. I know they're going to want their own bed, so we'll see how things happen.

I did absolutely nothing except have my monthly psych appt yesterday. My back was super pissed off for no reason at all, so I did something I've not done before. I had a cannabis gummy. Well, half of one. It definitely helped my back, and put me in a happy relaxed state. I considered taking a nap, but instead, we watched youtube videos of the ship on the TV. I love smart TVs with all the apps. Some of these streamers did their videos in 4k, so it seems sad not to take advantage of it.

The other night, I went ahead and booked our whale watching tour. I booked the private tour, which means that we can take up to 6 people on it. That way, if we end up taking a 3rd person with us, we'd be good. We've offered the slot to someone and should have a decision soon. But I was super nervous about the whale watching filling up, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I also booked a 7 day pass to the thermal spa. I want to be able to go lay on the heated loungers like a lizard.

Okay, time to gird my loins for patients today. Ugh. Everyone have an outstanding Tuesday!

If I could pause right here I would open my heart

It's a monday that I don't have to go to work, and that's awesome! I'm thoroughly enjoying being a giant sloth the last couple of days. Aside from game on Saturday, I've done absolutely nothing. The highlight was a trip to the dispensary Saturday afternoon.

Yesterday, especially was a lowkey day. 90% of it, I spent on the couch. The first of packages for the vacation showed up. I now have a very comfy pair of waterproof hiking boots from orthofeet. They fit really well, and I think they'll be excellent for walking around. Shoe wise, I still need to get a pair of slides for the pool and spa. We also got our new camera, an EOS 50. I'm learning how to use it, which should be a lot of fun. As per expected, the first few pictures on it are dog pictures. Today I shall do a cat picture or two and see how it favors boodle.

We watched the Thursday Murder Club, which was very good. The cast was fucking amazing, but good lord the ending was rough, and had both Jess and me crying. It was lovely to see so many great British actors together. It looked like they were having a lot of fun. My love for Pierce Brosnan continues unabated, Tom Ellis was adorable, and David Tennant was chewing scenery all over the place.

After that, we watched some videos about the ship we're taking, the Konigsdam. There was a full ship walk through, which was very nice to give one a bit of an idea where things are. Then, some more recent tours of our suite, which looks amazing. Last a couple of travelogues about the entertainment on the ship.

I'm looking forward to sea days as much as the ports, honestly. The ship looks amazing, and like there's always something to do.

Today, I plan to do more nothing. Maybe watch some more videos, contemplate my navel, all the usual stuff. I didn't sleep great last night, so I may even take a nap later. We'll see.

For now, my lovely spouse is up, so I'm going to spend some time with them. Everyone have an amazing Labor Day!

The bbq yesterday was fun! Baby Miss L continues to be a character - she's a little awkward but she manages to get up and down steps now. In fact, she stood on the steps and was like, "Jump! Jump!" and we were like, " um, no, no jumping off the steps!"

Anyway, there were a lot of desserts, but the strawberry cake was enjoyed. It smelled fantastic and tasted good too.

The moon to the left is a part of my thoughts and a part of me is me.

It's the second day of a glorious three day weekend! I have a game today, but nothing else going on. I'm just going to take it easy, and maybe, if I feel particularly productive (unlikely), I'll put our patio furniture together. It might be nice for Jess to have a hard backed chair post surgery, so we'll see.

We're down to 11 days til said surgery! I'm nervous mostly about the drive back from DC with a newly sliced spouse. I just fucking hate all the roundabouts. I miss my exit every time. I'll manage, and we'll get home, it just will be stressful. I'd say we could stay another night and leave midday, but they're going to pump Jess full of topical anesthetics, so I want to use them to their benefit, and not have them doing a car ride on just tylenol and alleve, since it doesn't appear that their surgeon is going to prescribe any narcotics. Which miffs me, but instead we went to the dispensary and bought $102 worth of weed.

I woke up earlier than I'd like for a day off, though so did Jess. I was dozing after waking at my normal time, and my brain decided to be a jerk and give me nightmares. There was a video on tiktok about a chick taking a gondola ride, and they went under a really low bridge and got stuck. So my brain decided that would be fun at 6am.

I continue to look online for things about Alaska (I'm sorry, you're all going to be sick of hearing about it.) We're starting to look at restaurants in ports, and things to do. We're limiting ourselves to one excursion per port. So far, in Ketchican, it's looking like in Ketchikan it's the visit to the Alaskan Native villiage, and the Lumberjack show combo. Skagway will probably be the White Pass Railway, and Juneau will be an evening whale watching tour. None of them have a lot of walking, since I'm not trying to do a fucking marathon while I'm on vacation. I expect that we'll be back on the ship early most days. These are relatively small towns, and there's usually three or four cruise ships who are in dock on any given day.

I think while we're in Juneau, especially, we're going to get a taxi for a few hours. It's a larger port, and things are a bit spread out. Especially if we want to go anywhere outside the port.

Okay, time for me to go forth and do nothing for a while til game. Everyone have the best Sunday!

Book Log: Rick Astley - Never

I was in the city over the (last) weekend, which meant that although I have an on-going resolution to not buy any books until I've cleared my still-unread book stack, this was an exception. A big exception! But an exception all the same because I rarely go into the city, so I got a whole bag of books that I will rotate in reading with the still-unread book stack, and one day, maybe, I will clear all of them.

Rick Astley's recent autobiography Never was not on my to-read list, but I picked it up on a whim, and as soon as I got home, apparently it was the one I was most excited about starting, so I did. I think because I'd recently enjoyed his cover of Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club", plus Dave Grohl mentioned him in his autobiography when I read it (and had to dig it up to reread his version of the same meeting that Astley mentions in his book).

So like, comparing to the handful of other musician autobiographies I've read (specifically: Dave Grohl, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner and Phil Collins), Astley's is very different in the sense that he really is Just Some Dude. He loves music and loves making music, but he isn't POSSESSED by the urge to make&perform music the way that's very clear for those other musicians I've mentioned, and since he got swept up in the commercial music-making machine when he was young (not very young, but young enough), he didn't get to cut his teeth performing on the circuit and figure out his own strengths. All musicians may be limited by commercial interests, but it seems to me that a consequence of that, plus the lack of a mentor, Astley didn't get much of a voice of his own that first time round as he exploded as a pop star, which gave a specific kind of hit to his confidence and perception of self (which isn't imposter syndrome, but something else). Boy was convinced most of the "genuine" musicians around him hated and/or wanted nothing to do with him, despite being proven wrong again and again.

By Astley's own admission he feels that he doesn't "deserve" to write an autobiog because he doesn't have that much music out, but that's just not true, man. His experiences are fascinating because it really is a case of luck coming in to revive his career (he had juuuuust the amount of psychological understanding of the Rickroll to, uh, roll with it, which took off after he dipped his toes back into the industry), and although he can't go back to the heights of the 80s, his second go-round has been firmly on his own terms and been so much more freeing for him to express himself, through writing and producing his own music, performing as a drummer again in his punk band, and embracing nostalgia performances. Which is neat! And reading about that is also neat.

Though also reading about the 80s pop machine from someone who lived it is also super neat and actually terrifying, which is the meat of the book. He's really lucky in that he got out of it relatively unscathed (which he's well-aware of) and that glimpse into how easy it is for a sheltered person to be dumped into a world you don't understand and be taken advantage of because you just don't know any better and don't even know you can say no to things -- it's a tale as old as time, but still good to read the someone's actual lived experience in a specific place and time period.

While reading the book, I listened to some of his newer tracks, and I quite like some of 'em! Most of them recorded at home and with him performing all the instruments, even.

When stripped of rags of skin and spine, human decay, corpus dei terminally dispelled

It's Saturday! And it's a 3 days weekend with lots of games! I'm very excited for it all.

We had Frostmaiden last night, which was super fun. They split the party and were dealing with fights on two seperate maps, which went surprisingly well for a game that's on the legacy system of Roll20 and not jumpgate.

Work was utterly insane. The emails just kept coming in, and I had hardly any time to catch my breath. It was a lot. Oh, and in the morning, there was a power outage at White Marsh, so they were locked out of the building, and then their internet was down. So I moved a few people around for them as well to give them a catch up point. I was tired by the time I was done for the day.

Today, we have Arvandor at noon. I need to do a little prep for that, since it occurred to me that I need to build a dragonrider and dragon boarding party as the episode starts with an aerial fight. I'm looking forward to that. It should be a fun, nailbiting session.

I've gotten Jess into looking at videos about our ship and Alaska in general. We're currently picking out places to go in towns. We'll probably do an excursion in most towns, but we'll have anywhere from 7-12 hours in each, so we'll have to see what else we want to do if anything.

I know I'd like to explore in Ketchikan. Maybe some stuff in Juneau. Skagway's pretty small, so I might not do a whole lot there.

I've been watching the packing videos, and I'm coming to the conclusion that these people are WAY more high maitenance than me. How many shoes do you fucking need? Walking shoes, check. One nice pair of shoes for formal night, check. Maybe sandals for the pool and spa? Yeah, that's about all I need. Maybe, maybe two walking shoes in case one gets drenched. I do not need five pairs of dress shoes, just in case. People are weird.

Also, in our suite, we get free laundry, and I plan to use that, so I'm definitely not going to be overpacking. I'm figuring like the Disney trip, we'll have one big, one medium suitcase for the two of us, plus carry ons.

I got a new carry on, especially for Jess' surgery, but it'll serve us well in general. It's an overnight bag, and it's the perfect size. I got it from Beis, which are expensive, but does have a gently used program, which knocked it down about 50%. I'm debating upgrading our suitcases. We have plain black Amazon basics, which are a real pain to see on the baggage carousel. I spent a lot of time going "Oh-no. Oh is that? No," on the Detroit trip.

Oh well, a few months to decide. And on that note, Everyone have an amazing Saturday!!

you bring the fire, i'll bring the jewels

All day on Wednesday, I thought it was Thursday, and all day yesterday, I thought it was today. But it was not! So I do have some Wednesday books posting to do, now on Friday!

What I've just finished
The Oleander Sword and The Lotus Empire by Tasha Suri, the second and third books in her Burning Kingdoms trilogy. Overall, I thought these two were much more engaging than the first book, and I wanted to know what happened next, but I wasn't blown away by them like I was by her Books of Ambha duology (which I highly recommend!).

Also I've read both Into the Riverlands and Mammoths at the Gate by Nghi Vo. I enjoy these novellas quite a bit and these two were wonderful. I especially liked the martial arts references in Riverlands and how Mammoths was about grief and stories, two of my favorite topics to read about!

What I'm reading now
The Brides of High Hill, the next Singing Hills Cycle novella by Nghi Vo. I've just started it but I'm enjoying it so far.

What I'm reading next
I am just happy to be reading at all so I cannot say! I thought the next Craft Wars book was out in September, but it looks like it's not until the end of October, so I guess we'll see!

Speaking of books, though, last night I watched the Netflix adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club and I enjoyed it - the casting is A++ for the most part (Helen Mirren is perfect as Elizabeth and Ben Kingsley is great as Ibrahim. And Pierce Brosnan remains ridiculously handsome.) - and I think 95% of the streamlining they did was fine, because there were a few two many twists and turns in the book, but spoiler for both book and movie ) I haven't read any of the other books in the series, though I'm sure I will eventually, but I hope it does well enough that they can make a few more movies with this set of actors.

Now I have to go take my strawberry summer cake out of the oven. I was invited to a cookout tomorrow at my sister's at the last moment, so I have to have a cake to bring!

Tell me who you wanna be, and I will set you free

I did not want to get up this morning. The alarm went off and I just laid there for a minute like "Really? It's that time again?" And indeed it was. I slept okay, though I had some trouble getting to sleep. I love my body, which is prone to throw random bits of anxiety at me at bedtime. It's obnoxious. Not usually anything bad, or anything I can put my finger on, I'm just anxious.

I continue t work my hyperfixation on the cruise. I'm currently making lists of what I need to get for packing and shore excursions. Fortunately, there's about 10million videos on youtube, so I'lve been watching some of them.

I'm having serious debate between taking a plane from Seattle to Vancouver. It's only 3 hours away, so I'm quite sure it'll be up and down. I just haven't decided. There's a tram that goes from the airport to the waterfront that would be convenient. But on the other hand, it might be nice to see some scenery from the train. I don't know, I'm still debating.

On one hand, it would save us 3 hours on a train and it's conciderably cheaper. On the other, it would mean more time in the airport. Probably about 50/50. I'll think on it and talk to Jess.

Jess had their final preop yesterday. They are cleared for surgery! Today marks under 2 weeks! 13 days and counting! They're very excited, and more than ready.

We were somewhat busy yesterday. Lots of phone calls, lots of people to work in. It was a lot. Hopefully a little quieter today.

We have a pile of games this weekend. Frostmaiden tonight, Arvandor tomorrow and then Strixhaven (which I just play in) on Sunday. It should be a fun weekend. I also have to make sure to get down to Silver Spring to get our second meat pack, which is mostly for [personal profile] poisontaster.

I'm going to I need to look at my maps, and see which ones I need to upload for tonight. Tomorrow's is pretty well set up, so that doesn't require much in the way of prep.

Okay, time to go forth and put on pants and get ready for the day. Everyone have an excellent Friday!

Though my memories have faded, they come back to haunt me once again

We're better than halfway through the week! Two more days til a relaxing weeked filled to the brim with games. I need to do a bit of prep for tomorrow's game, but after that, I think I'm good. The Saturday game is prepped so I'm good there, and Sunday I just have to play. Might be good to remember what we're currently doing in that game, but it'll come to me.

Yesterday was a busy day at work. Lots of people to call to fit in for appointments. The whole thing with United Healthcare means that a lot of people are cancelling appointment last minute, and then I'm the one who gets to try to fill them all in. It's like trying to stuff a finger in the dyke (the dam kind, not the lesbian) and watching five other holes open up.

Oh well, we're going to do the best we can and go from there.

I also did some shifting of appointments that were technically scheduled correctly, but selfishly. For breast MRIs, you have 135 minutes for three 45 minute appointments. This, of course, requires that each be scheduled exactly 45 min apart, otherwise, you end up with two appointments and three random 15 minute slots. It's just obnoxious. It makes me despair to see the same scheduler's names over and over again. They've almost all been here longer than I have, so what the fuck?

In my spare time, I've been falling down the K-Hole of cruise research. I had done this a couple of years ago, but then dad got really bad, and hopes and dreams got suspended. But now that we have some freedom, we thought why not.

I've never taken a cruise before, so this is all going to be new. If anyone has tips, please feel free to hit me up either here or by DM. Which is all to say that somehow I'd forgotten the perks of taking one of the top suites. The suite we're in is called the Pinnacle Suite. It's their "owner's suite," and it's gorgeous, see?

Apparently, the other part of the suite is that you are met upon check in, and someone walks you through security and customs and onto the ship and to your suite. It has an espresso maker! I'm looking forward to using that in the mornings. I'm going to be super caffeinated.

I'm making a list of the things they suggest getting for the trip. Rain jacket, layers. I don't have many of those. So I'm going to be going on old navy and getting some sweatshirts and fleece tops, and looking for waterproof shoes. (Apparently, Alaska gets a fair amount of rain.

Right now, I'm in my youtube phase.

Okay, time for me to get myself together. My sister is very chatty this morning, so I'm going to flee to our bedroom and go get dressed for some quiet. Everyone have an awesome Thursday!

trouble seldom sees what she leaves behind

So here's a question for you, especially if you do office-type work: when did people start sending pictures of things instead of actual documents in a work-related setting? And WHY???

I have had this happen repeatedly recently, and then instead of just going on with my work easily, I have to email back and ask for a version in a program that I can edit. (If I don't need to edit, I will sometimes just print it as a PDF so I can attach and send it to people, but that is still an extra step I have to take because someone else couldn't put their work in a work-appropriate format.)

Personally, I get not wanting to share a linked document - I do it but I kind of hate other people in my documents because of version control issues (...or maybe just control issues? 😬😬😬) - but anything is better than a useless JPEG pasted into the body of an email when what I ASKED FOR was a list of attendees for a meeting I may need to sort, or a purchase requisition that I will need to update.

As a related item, stop with the QR codes! Our HR department sends emails about training opportunities or other events and is like, "Use the QR code to register!" Like, how about no? And certainly not when it's an event to which we are inviting board members, some of whom are LITERALLY in their 90s and not tech-savvy. What is wrong with a nice LINK to a FORM on a regular WEBBED SITE?

I guess I am feeling very Abe Simpson yells at clouds today, but come on. These are not things that make work easier! (Well, maybe it's easier for the people who do this, but then they have to deal with my annoying follow up emails, so is it really easier for them???)

In other news, my younger nephew got a promotion that required him to move to California in a hurry, so he flew out last night. I will miss him! Who will I call now when I need a tall person to do things in my apartment??? (Just kidding! It's a great opportunity for him, and he is some kind of regional manager now with a region that includes Hawaii, so my sister and I are already like, "let us plan a trip to visit him IN HAWAII!" [note: I will likely never be able to afford a trip to Hawaii, but a girl can dream.])

My MiL's visit is going nicely so far.

We went out for a drive Saturday, went for lunch at our favourite beach restaurant on Sunday, went to Whitley Bay for a drive on bank holiday Monday then went to see Corey where I got to hug the stuffing out of him. I'll just skirt over the morning where I sat on the wall outside the gym waiting for it to open, only to discover my branch doesn't open at all on bank holidays.

We drove to Sea Houses yesterday, which was another lovely sunny day. Then today was class and an afternoon at home, because as much as she complains she doesn't get out, it's obvious my MiL doesn't have the stamina to go out every day without some downtime.

Today, Rosie told us she's starting an exercise only class from next Monday, using the time slot we used to have. She asked if there was anything people wanted including, and I made the rookie error of saying nothing I wanted to be included, but no more walking lunges, please. Guess what she's decided to add, for sure? Honestly, I never learn.

James also got a cancellation for his back injections so he's getting those Saturday evening. Kayleigh is driving us there and back, then some recovery time and hopefully, he'll be back to work.

My SiL and her family are at a holiday camp close to the wildfire on the Yorkshire moors. They were supposed to be there until Friday, but are coming back today instead, taking the train as the main road is closed. They're going to stay with my SiL's partner's mam for a couple of days, then come home on Saturday. But I must admit, I'm kinda hoping that they come home Friday instead so we can drop off my MiL then and have a bit more breathing room on the Sat.

And sometimes, Ghost's music boils down to Tobias being a naughty boy. "And then, we fucked, in the church on the altar, hehehe." But goddamn, it's catchy.

How are you all this Wednesday? I am in pain. I was slicing a tomato and caught the tip of my thumb. It's still in the throbbing stage. It didn't need stitches, but it was a nice little cut. The new Wusthof steak kinves are really, really fucking sharp. Fortunately, I don't really use the tip of my finger for anything, but it's still a bit painful. That'll learn me to be more careful with those knives. Jess sliced their hand on one almost immediately after we got it, cutting a bagel, so I'm not in bad company.

Yesterday was a busy day, but not horrible. Plus, we were looking for vacations, and we settled on one, so I'm excited.

We've been talking about doing a short cruise to see if we like it before we jump into things. But there's really no short cruises. They used to do a 2-3 night "Cruise to nowhere," where the idea was to enjoy the amenities and just get your feet wet, but they seem to have done away with them. The shortest one I found was a 5 day to Bermuda or a 6 day to the Bahamas.

The problem is that I hate hot weather, I don't really like beaches and as a queer couple, I'm leery of going to places that don't have protections.

So, we decided to bite the bullet and do a 7 day cruise, this one to Alaska, where Jess has always wanted to see.

In May of next year (Which is super early in the season, so it'll still be a little chilly) we're going to head out to Vancouver to get on the Holland America Konigsdam for a 7 day round trip to Ketchikan,Skagway and Juneau. I'm really excited about it, and have begun doing research.

We're staying in the Pinnacle Suite, which is kind of the owner's suite and is way more than we actually need, but if you're going to do it, you might as well do it right. It's a once in a lifetime experience, and we're going to have fun.

I got our hotel room for the night before the cruise, so now I need to figure out after and then the dreaded flights.

This is a big week of games, starting tonight, then Friday, then Saturday, then Sunday! We've been so bereft of games lately that it's very exciting.

Work should be a little bit quieter, though the whole insurance thing is driving our calls up. We'll see!

And on that note, I'm going to hop off and start getting myself together. I got up a bit early today because I was awake at five, and if I drifted off for half an hour, I'd just feel extra tired. Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday!

Book Log: Apocalypse: A History of the End of Time

Another weathered book from the back of the unread books drawer, and not very thick, so it's a light read I finished pretty much over a weekend I was away from home. John Michael Greer's Apocalypse: A History of the End of Time follows the history of what he describes as "the apocalypse meme" (the book was published in 2012), as in the infectious idea of the apocalypse, which Greer argues originated proper by Zarathustra, by adding the idea of "An End" to the understanding of the the cyclical nature of the seasons, years, and cosmic movements.

Very fun read, as Greer goes all the way from Zoroastrianism to the 2012 Mayan calendar scare (that really was everywhere for a hot minute), covering various famous and some less-famous (to me) apocalyptic movements in history, including Millerism, Heaven's Gate, Y2K, Kurzweil's Singularity (is that tied to the current AI movement? I should look it up). Though because Greer gave good early depth to apocalyptic concepts as developed by post-Babylon exile Judaism and later New Kingdom Christianity, I thought he would do the same for Islam and other Eastern beliefs but uhhhhh no, the book is Western-centric, I don't know why I keep playing myself.

But still a good, brisk read, and I do like that he explores exactly (though not too deeply) what it is about the apocalyptic meme that attracts people so, with the promise of justice in an unfair world, and being able to let all of your problems go to the promise that it will all be resolved by someone who is not me/you/us. And with that note he ends quite critical of that, by arguing that we need to help each other and protect each other, which is difficult work but necessary every day.

It's Tuesday! We survived Monday! I did not sleep well last night. I woke up basically every hour for some reason. Okay, at 4am the reason had a name, but otherwise, I just was up and down. Hopefully, tonight I'll sleep better, because I am le tired.

I found out that there's a show called Drunk Dracula, where the lead performer takes four shots, and then tries to get through the play. It sounds entertaining, and I'm tempted to make the trek down to DC to see it.

Yesterday was a Monday. Very busy, even with taking a bit of time to fill in some appointments, I still topped 50 calls. I'm sure today will be another busy day. Hopkins contract with United Heathcare expired, and we're getting a ton of cancellations. We are asking for them to be less shitty, and they're saying that if they're less shitty to us, they would have to be less shitty overall, and they can't do that. It was costing us a lot of valuable patient time to chase down prior auths for shit they should have done the first time. They, of course, are saying we don't care about patients, just being special. But since the largest OB/GYN group in the region also refused to resign with them, I think we all know whose fault it is.

I'm going to try to go to the farmer's market after work, and pick up a few vegetables. The BIL wants a cantelope, so I will try. This'll be my last visit until after Jess' surgery, as we're limiting exposure until then. Even so, I'll mask.

We're down to 16 days until the teets get yeeted. We got the official approval letter from EHP, our healthcare plan, stating that Jess was approved for surgery. I called the hospital, and they said our cost is under $1200, which is amazing. They're billing the insurance $22k. I'm so grateful that Hopkins allows Jess the opportunity to get this surgery. It's so nice to have a plan that considers this a non-elective surgery, and will cover it at 90%+. I swear, I'm going to frame the approval notice.

When Jess made their decision to go with full top surgery, and not reduction, I got on the Reddit community for top surgery, and some of the stories are just heartbreaking. Surgeries cancelled, and prohibitive costs, and unsupportive family. I asked Jess if they wanted me to take the morning off on Thursday for their final virtual preop with Dr. Chen. They said they think they have it.

Okay, time for me to go forth and get myself more coffee. Everyone have an awesome Tuesday!

[This Lordship Business]: Seeking Whom He May Exasperate, 1/?, Harry/Theo

Title: Seeking Whom He May Exasperate
Disclaimer: J. K. Rowling and associates own these characters. I am writing this story for fun and not profit.
Pairing: Harry/Theo, Fawkes/OMC, mentions of a few canon pairings, otherwise gen
Rating: PG-13
Content Notes: AU (Harry is sort of Lord Slytherin), canon-typical violence, minor character death, Horcrux hunting, angst, fluff, drama, romance, present tense, ridiculousness
Summary: AU, and part five of This Lordship Business series. Harry feels he deserves the right to be happy, with almost all the Horcruxes destroyed, his OWLS safely sat, Voldemort disembodied again, and Theo firmly by his side. But the Ministry, the Order of the Phoenix, Voldemort, and maybe even the universe don’t agree.
Author’s Notes: This is a sequel to ā€œI Have Been a Brother to O.W.L.S.,ā€ and part five of my ongoing series. Don’t start reading here; it won’t make sense. The title is a twist on the Biblical quote ā€œseeking whom he may devour.ā€
